Zimpli Kids creates innovative, safe, and eco-friendly sensory toys that inspire creativity and learning through play. Every product is developed with care, using high-quality ingredients and tested to meet strict global safety standards.

We have been manufacturing our core products; Gelli, Slime and Snoball, since 2007 & have manufactured tens of millions of boxes of each product over this period so have massive confidence in the safety of our products. Our super safe patent protected powder formulations are simply mixed with food-grade colourants and a splash of fruity scented fragrance.

Here at Zimpli Kids, we take our safety incredibly seriously, all our products are fully tested as follows:

Legally – We carry out full toy safety testing on all of our products & have up to date certification for all products & we are always happy to provide testing certification on request
Dermatologically – We have an industry leading dermatological company (Dermatest) carry out human trial skin patch test on all of our products, certificates can be downloaded below
Bio-degradation – We have the worlds largest testing house (Intertek) test & certify our Slime & Gelli powders are certified biodegradable as per the OECD301B standard. The report can be downloaded below
Safety & compliance – Our products are independently assessed to ensure they comply with legal & toxicological legislation to ensure they are safe to be placed on the market. The reports can be downloaded below

Dermatest is an internationally acclaimed company based in Germany which tests products for dermatological tolerance for companies all over the world

Dermatest carry out human trial skin patch tests on 30 people per product with the aim to detect primary skin irritation. Our full range of products have the Dermatest accreditation, proving that our products do not cause any skin irritation and are ultimately skin safe.

You can view and download a selection of our Dermatest reports below but feel free to request a report for any of our products. Please note the test reports are in the name of our parent company, Simba Dickie Group. The cost to carry out human trial skin test on 30 people for every one of our products is huge but we believe is justified, so as we can say with confidence that are products are ‘Skin Safe’

The first box of Gelli Baff was sold into the UK market in January 2007 and we are proud to say we have had the exact same initial selection available in multiple UK retailers now for 10+ years. In this 10+ year period, we have sold over 50 million units of both Gelli Baff and Slime Baff worldwide using the exact same patent protected formulation we started with back in 2007.

At Zimpli Kids, we take the safety of all our products exceptionally seriously and this is evident in not only how thoroughly our products are tested, but also in our choice to manufacture over 90% of our products in our UK based ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified manufacturing plant.

We have multiple up to date testing certifications to demonstrate the safety of our full product range; • EN71: Ensure that the toy conforms to the essential safety requirements. • TRA: Toxicological Risk Assessments • CPSR: Cosmetic Product Safety Report • REACH • ASTM and CPSIA

As a company, we distribute to over 50 countries and we have extensive, up to date testing certification for every country we ship to. Over and above the legal requirements we have additional reports from expert safety organisations.

British Skin Foundation Approved!

Our Gelli and Slime products are the first toys to receive accreditation from one of the UK’s most respected charities, the British Skin Foundation (BSF), who are the UK’s leading skin disease research charity.

Following an in-depth review, BSF approved our Gelli and Slime as skin safe! This recognition will help give parents that extra peace of mind that our products are not only fun, but safe for their child's sensitive skin!

Gelli Baff & Skin Conditions

Gelli Baff has now been around for over 10 years, not only is it a unique children’s product but we have recently discovered that our Gelli Baff has been beneficial to people who suffer from skin conditions such as Eczema & Psoriasis. Hundreds of customers have reached out to us to say that Gelli Baff didn't cause any irritation to sensitive skin and in some cases, helped to calm their skin condition down and made it feel softer.

The Bio-degradation Test OECD 301B is a worldwide recognised test that determines the biodegradability of a material by adding it to waste sewage and measuring the amount of CO2 created over a 28 day period. As this test as standard adds a product to sewerage we believe it is by far the most suitable test to determine the biodegradability of our products as 95%+ of our products are disposed of via the toilet or the drain of a bath or sink.

We engaged Intertek to carry out this test for both Gelli Baff and Slime Baff as they are the world’s biggest & most respected testing company. The test involves adding Gelli Baff and Slime Baff to an inoculum (sewage waste) and measuring how much CO2 is released over the 28 day period. This is reported as a percentage. The sewage waste is also tested at the same time by itself. The OECD 301B guidelines state a product has to achieve a minimum 60% conversion to CO2 within 28 days. The product also continues to degrade beyond this period.

Both Slime Baff and Gelli Baff biodegraded, with Slime Baff achieving a 71.31% conversion and Gelli Baff a 66.86% conversion. The sewage waste by itself converted 82.83% over 28 days. As both products achieved a figure greater than 60%, both products are classed as biodegradable according to the standard. We want to end with reaffirming that the OECD 301B is an internationally recognised test to allow companies to make a fully certified biodegradability claims.

Bioglitter

We use cosmetic ‘Bio-Glitter’ in all of our glitter products which is produced from a special biodegradable film that degrades in sea water as tested by TÜV Austria. As you can see on the graph below, Bio-Glitter biodegrades by 87% in 28 days and continues to degrade beyond this period and is soft on the touch!

At Zimpli Kids, our entire range of products are Vegan friendly and Cruelty free. This means that they do not contain any animal derived products and are not tested on animals, either now or in the future.

We like to be transparent with our customers and with this in mind, we feel it is important to note that although Zimpli Kids do not carry out any animal testing on any of its finished products or components, we cannot say with 100% certainty, that every single ingredient has not, at some point historically, been approved for human use, through animal testing via a company other than Zimpli Kids.
